KENYAN ARTISTE CELEBRATES HER BIRTHDAY WITH COFFIN CAKE

Kenyan artiste Karen Lucas celebrated her 30th birthday yesterday, wearing a devil horn and cutting her black gravesite cake.

The black cake was decorated to assume a gravesite on green grass, with flowers on top, a shovel, brown sand beside it and also a cross boldly written- ’30’ ‘1983-2013’.

Do not fret as you can see she wrote here lies her youth. So she was talking about her youth going to the grave. 30yers ain't so old is it?

12 YEAR OLD GIRL COMMITS SUICIDE IN BAYELSA

According to Vanguard this morning,

A 12-year-old girl, Monday, allegedly committed suicide in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the police told the News Agency of Nigeria, yesterday.

Mr Alex Akhigbe, Bayelsa Police Public Relations Officer, told NAN that the girl allegedly hanged herself early on Monday.

He said: “Yes, police have confirmed the death of the young girl, who killed herself behind her father’s house early in the morning, yesterday (Monday).

“The police have also evacuated the corpse from the scene and deposited it in the mortuary. The corpse is still awaiting autopsy.

“It was a very strange act and a surprise to see a young girl of that age take her life; it is a real mystery.”

He, however, said that investigations were ongoing in the matter to establish the motive behind the girl’s alleged action.

“Her parents have not talked to the police. We are still investigating to get to the root of the matter,” he said.

MOURINHO ON THE MOVE FOR BARCELONA'S VALDES

One Catalan sport newspaper, Mundo Deportivo, today has Petr Cech on the front cover and a story about how he's now at the top of Barcelona's wanted list to replace the departing Victor Valdes. The other Catalan newspaper, Sport, has Valdes and Mourinho on the front cover saying that Chelsea are willing to match the wages he's asking for and sign Valdes on a free from Barcelona next summer.

It's all getting very confusing regarding goalkeepers in Barcelona, every day there's a new claim and every day a new man gets to be at the top of the wanted list. Chelsea interest in Valdes is a new twist on this. Sport say that Mourinho is willing to get the Premier League side to match the €10m a year which Valdes wants. That's a lot of money for a goalkeeper but Valdes is excellent, probably vastly underrated simply because he's so in the shadows at Barcelona.

Sport say there has already been contact and Valdes has reacted positively to it, making Chelsea take the operation all the more serious. The newspaper claim that with speculation growing, nice tie-up with the Mundo cover there, over Cech's future that Mourinho has been checking the goalkeeper market out. Sport claim that Mourinho doesn't have enough confidence in Thibaut Courtois because of his age, and wants a more experienced goalkeeper with experience of winning the biggest trophies.

The website of the Federal Ministry of Education, www.fme.gov.ng, is down.  Although it could not be ascertained how long it has been down, our correspondent, who visited the website on Monday, had stumbled on the message, “This account has been suspended.’’

No information was placed on the site to tell visitors that it has moved to another domain and no link was provided to redirect those in search of information about the educational system to a new one.

Besides, another website attributed to the ministry online, fmegovng.org, is also “ailing’’ as the message on the site read, “This domain name will be on Godaddy Auctions soon.”

9ICE GOES BACK TO SCHOOL TO BE A LAWYER

Hmmm.... my own personal Abolore Akande has gone back to school to pursue his dream course LAW.... In an interview with Tribune, he stated that he had always wanted to be a lawyer and has decided to go back to school to study bit... congrats Nigga..

You were said to have pulled out of your Law programme at the Lagos State University to face music. That decision paid off, but you seem not to be happy about it now?

I didn’t pull out because of music; I left school because I was unable to pay my school fees. While I was on the street, I gave hundred percent of my life to music and it paid off eventually.
When I was in school, I was just doing music for fun until I left school. At that point, I decided that I was going to face music passionately and from that point, things changed.

At what point in your life did you decide to go into music?

Music for me started right from when I was in secondary school. Initially, I was playing football but later, I started singing in the church choir. Moreover, my father was a Disc Jockey and I was already listening to a whole lot of music. My musical career took off effectively in 2002 when I emerged winner of Star Quest.

What happened after you won the prize money? Was your brother, Emeka Okonkwo, alias E-Money, rich then?

My brother was very poor at the time we entered for Star Quest. I was the one who helped him. He was our manager and we lived together in Ajegunle ghetto. He did not make money until later.  We hustled together.

Did your parents support your decision to go into music?

My mother supported me from the start. My father, like most fathers, was hoping I would study hard and become a doctor or lawyer.  He was not in support of my career choice at first but when I started bringingmoney home, he realised that I could actually make money from music. Then, he started supporting and praying for me.

What inspires you on stage?

It is when I see my audience cheering and getting ready to see me, it makes me want to go crazy; it makes me want to do more.

Do you see any other of your music tracks making waves like the hit track, Limpopo?

So, we are heeding the advice of our students,”
“Now, government has pulled out of the dialogue. We thought we were the ones going on strike, but now government has also gone on strike.”There are issues and agreement they can implement without money. Why don’t they begin with those ones?” he said.

WAEC: CHEAT AND GO TO JAIL OR PAY FINE OF N200,000

Woohooo, yes all of you that be paying teachers for answers in WAEC, God don catch una. Waec has signed into law that if you are caught cheating you either face a 5 year jail term or pay a fine of N200,000. The full story below was gotten from the punch..

The Federal Executive Council has approved the amendment to an Act of the West African Examinations Council, part of which will make culprits of examination malpractice to be liable to five-year jail term or N200,000 fine or both.

The Minister of Education, Prof Ruqayyat Rufai, announced this in Abuja on Wednesday while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the weekly FEC meeting. He addressed journalists in company with her counterpart in the Health and Environment ministries, Onyebuchi Chukwu and Hadza Mailafia, respectively.

Rufai said the decision of the meeting, which was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, was to “give effect to the revised convention of WAEC, 2003 in Nigeria.”

She said the Council had subsequently directed the Ministry of Justice to take further necessary action on the subject.

Rufai had recently presented a memo to FEC, seeking its approval for the enactment of an Act to amend the WAEC Act, CAP W4, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004 with the aim of giving effect to the revised convention of WAEC, 2003 in the country.

DANGOTE SET TO EMPLOY 8,000 ENGINEERS IN REFINERY

Hmmmm.... Alhaji Aliko Dangote is set to employ young Nigerian enigineers fresh from grad scholl into his new company almost completed. Yes, his refinery. According to Vanguard newspaper, he would recruit 8,000 engineers and provide job opportunities for 85,000 Nigerians in ma whole. Omo that's huge.
The report states:

The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said about 8,000 engineers would be needed for the smooth take off of the nine- billion- dollar Dangote Refinery/Fertiliser plant in Ondo.

Dangote told State House correspondents on Wednesday in Abuja that the project, when completed, would provide direct and indirect jobs for 85,000 Nigerians.He said the group had secured a 3.3 billion-dollar credit facility from a consortium of banks for the project.According to him, importation of petroleum products will end by 2016 as the plant will commence production in the next three years.
